Head Coach
Meet Coach Rogers
Coach Rogers is entering his 9th year as a football coach and first year as the team’s head coach. He has also coached track and field for 15 years and has been the head coach for 4 years. Coach Rogers teaches English at Silas High School where he and his wife, Jessica, are both alumnae (2002). Coach Rogers has two children, Jacob (13) and Jordyn (10) who are soon-to-be Rams. Coach Rogers enjoys the camaraderie of coaching and the way football can bring people together.
Meet Coach Hubbard
Coach Hubbard graduated from Peninsula High School, where he played football and ran track & field. After high school, he attended Highline Community College for two years, where he continued to run track & field. He is entering his 15th year as a firefighter at South King Fire & Rescue. Athletics have taught him various skills and lessons instrumental to his personal growth and career success, so, when given a chance to be a coach and help impart those skills and lessons, he jumped on it.
Meet Coach Chantler
Coach Chantler is a Ram graduate (2002). Coach Chantler is in his first year as a football coach after working with the Silas Boys Tennis team for the last two seasons. Coach Chantler has also coached basketball at the middle school level and is excited to work with this year’s Rams football team!
Meet Coach Lien
Coach Lien was born and raised in Tacoma, WA. Returning to Ram Country after spending 6 years coaching the Rams offensive line before moving to Gig Harbor in the same role. The last 5 years he has served as the Offensive Line/Assistant Head Coach at Auburn High School. He returns to add Offensive Coordinator to his duties at his alma mater (2009). Coach Lien believes that Silas is a special place and is ecstatic to be back in the community he grew up in and excited to get started.
Meet Coach Wright
Coach Wright served in the Armed Forces for 21 years, stationed overseas at Wiesbaden and Mainz Germany, later at Fort Carson CO, and Ft. Riley CA, before retiring at JBLM Ft. Lewis in 1991. He has been married to his wife Angela for 34 years (class of 81’). They love to travel, go to the movies, and watching their grandchildren play soccer with Washington Premiere FC soccer club. Coach Wright began his coaching career with Tacoma Schools in 1994. He joined the Silas lady Rams coaching staff in 2015, and the football staff in 2017. What he likes about coaching at Silas is the feeling of community. His favorite quote: “I’ve learned people will forget what you said people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”
Meet Coach Gray
Coach Gray is the receivers coach and strength coach for Silas high school as well as the sprint/jumps coach for the track and field team. He has ten years of experience as a track and field coach and is currently in his fourth year as a football coach. Currently he works as a strength coach for the Army and has been working ten years in the fitness industry. He is a graduate of Silas (2006) and coaches because he wants to help build the football program back up to be a top contender in the city and state.
Meet Coach Lovelady
Coach Lovelady is an alumni class of ‘92. This will be his 9th season coaching at Silas. He’s the head football coach at Mason Middle School. His favorite thing about coaching is watching the players mature into young adults. GO RAMS!
Meet Coach Preston
Coach Preston has played 16 years of semi pro and arena football. His first coaching job was for the Carolina Phoenix, an all-female tackle football team. Coach Preston is so gracious to have coached Jennifer King who is now the running back coach for the Washington Commanders. Coach Preston has also played for Wilson / Silas and is so proud to be coaching here, giving back to the community he grew up in and helping boys become responsible young men on and off the field.
Meet Coach May
Coach May was born and raised in Tacoma, WA and a Silas HS alum. Coach May was quarterback for Wilson High School. Overall, he has 10 years of coaching experience at the high school level. He has coached quarterbacks at Silas HS (Wilson HS, at the time), Gig Harbor, and Auburn HS. He is also the youth football coach for his son’s 5th grade football team, and coaches at Hilltop Heritage in the off-season. Coach May teaches math at Stewart Middle School and loves being apart of Tacoma.
